complicite demonstration workshop
The director of theatre complicite talked about the new performance of theatre complicite "Shun Kin" and generally the ways that theatre works. He explained what are the thoughts behind making the book of Jun'ichiro Tanizaki "The portrait of Shun kin " to a theatrical performance. In addition the was a talk about japanese tradition. After speaking generally about theatre and his thoughts about it-such as an the difference between the actor in cinema and the actor on theatre stage(the actor in cinema pretends to be someone but in theatre not only he is doing that but he is also a storyteller)-he called the people to go on stage and exersize in some theatre movements. There was a demonstration of using the puppets they use in the performance. In "Shun Kin" puppets are used in a similar way with Bunraku theatre. The audience could play with puppets and also find ways of synchronize their bodies with the puppets. It was quite useful to watch this workshop because i understood how actors from another civilization(Japan) use different codes with their bodies and also i could see different codes by some japanese objects presented. The theatre complicite's thoughts about theatre really inspired me and made me thing more about the performers. The participation of the audience was a big advantage of this workshop because the usual distance between stage and audience disappeared.
