st is criticises the condition that humans are in, in society.
The main character is Agnes, Indra's daughter who comes down from the heavens to witness life on earth.
In our reading of the text,
on the one side we have a goddess in the position of an observer, who forms her opinion subjectively by participating occasionally and on the other side we have different characters who represent the face of humanity.
People go through their lives searching for truth-meaning in their lives- and Strindberg uses the symbol of the door repetitively in the play.
He uses some real problems from everyday life and presents them in the structure of the dream. He separates the story/narrative into different chapters....characters appear "randomly" (as if in a dream), in t
he different chapters.
Characters are used to describe hierarchical structures and the dynamics of relationships.
