PROJECT PROPOSAL-SOLO PROJECT-DIPLOMA STAGE

I am working on a video for my solo performance which is based on a Greek myth called Eugena  .My interpretation of the myth is that it deals with the transition from an adolescent girl to a mature woman.

I will show that subject using animation and live action on the screen .

I researched this subject by reading books about myths

and about adolescence and feminine psychology and i researched this also visually .I created an animated character that has the image of Eugena as I picture her in my mind and then I chose a performer with whom I work on the video of the live action.

My aim is to create a video that shows the change of an adolescent girl to a mature woman and how this happens without trying to be obvious but with some elements of fantasy . I want to show that this change happens so fast that a woman never understand when it really happens .I n addition I want to achieve a good level of artistic outcome.

I chose to use video because I wanted to see the action as images and not like the theatre live action on a stage. I like the aesthetic of animation in this project because I want to show my subject in a non realistic way.  The fictitious presence of this character will show this subject from a distance of a real human nature but also will let the audience to have their own interpretation of it and find themselves in it.

I am not sure if I will present that in a space or I will present that in web. I will decide that when I will have the final result

the ambient noise

i really enjoyed the performance the ambient noise. the whole idea of it was fabulous. The performance had a great atmosphere!! the direction was good -the way the actors were leading us was great,the set was very nice as it created the image of something destroyed by the war and the sound was good too with a combination of naive sounds and war sounds that made a scary and also playful situation. I liked the costumes too but i think they were too strong sometimes . The only thing that i didn't like very much was that there was too much talking recorded for a performance like that. The highlight of the performance were the masks on the fabric. It was a very good idea putting these masks on the set.

I really believe it was a great job of group 1!!!

the story board

i am working in the storyboard of my solo performance-video. I am trying to have a result that reflects my view of how a girl grows and become a woman. The trip from adolescence to maturity is for me a trip to knowledge.  The person becomes familiar with new things and changes his/her point of view.In the same time the body changes and becomes the medium to this trip.I wouldn't like to stick on some cliche but to show some little details that makes that difference from the period of adolescence to the period of maturity.To me the whole transformation of the body and the psychology of the person seems, as i look in my life, like it only  takes  a few moments...

costume proposals for the group project

These are my proposals for the costumes of the characters Agnes and Poet of the "Dream Play". I didn't want to describe Agnes as an angel but to symbolize that by some details on her costume. This cape that she will wear make her look different but also human. The whole image of her will be natural but with some details of hyppereal too. For the Poet i experimented with some different styles,i thought of the main characteristics of a poet...a poet can be bohemian,romantic,mysterious,a little mad..I made 4 images for him-4 opinions about him 

the progression of the group project

After the last meeting with the girls it seems like our opinions are more alike than before. we decided about who does what.Aditi will do the video-the sounds and the making of the costume,jessica will design the scenery and will construct it and also help me with the lights, I made the mask , i am designing the costume,i will do the direction and help with constructions and lights.We decided to keep the  shape of the screen that Jessica suggested and  we agreed with on the reference of the costume that I suggested. Aditi's images for the video are very nice and i am starting thinking about the direction with having them in my mind. It seems like the result will be good if we continue having a good connection of ideas among us.

My Video

i made a storyboard for the video that will be my solo performance.After talking with the performer i transfered  the main ideas into the paper.The producer of it must now find a space to start filming.i focused in one theme of Eugena (a greek myth) and that is the passage from adolescence to maturity.I will have some images of everyday life and also some animation.The video will probably be separated in two screens that the action of the one will follow the action of the other and the opposite.In the first screen there will be the animation part and in the second the action of a real performer. There are some issues that i stil haven't decide but i am optimistic
